THE DIGNITY OF PLANTS

WHAT
How do we perceive nature? This man-made garden rethinks the relationship between humans and plants by questioning the ethics of their cohabitation.

WHY
We tend to see ourselves as the centre of the universe, detached from our surroundings. Minji Choi counterposes this anthropocentric vision with a more hybrid approach. Instead of manipulating the environment into our own ‘ideal’ world, her garden showcases a more democratic array.

HOW
With a series of tiny interventions, the ‘natural’ and the ‘artificial’ are interwoven, highlighting the ambiguity of the traditional division. Flourishing or withered, plastic or organic, manicured or bewildered: the plants in this garden attempt to change our conventional attitude towards nature.

QUOTE
Plants also have their own dignity.
