WITHIN TOUCHING DISTANCE

WHAT
An installation space where visitors can experience technology in a personal and interactive way, allowing for more emotional involvement.

HOW
Animate curtains, each with its own characteristics respond to your presence. One whizzes past upon entrance, showing the way forward, another envelopes you as you sit on a chair, inviting a moment of privacy. Set in the interior, the objects explore how to communicate with those using the space and care for them in a sensually perceptible way.

WHY
The project opposes the common vision of a ‘smart home’ where a large number of invisible and unnoticeable services are blended into the background — impalpable and distant.
