STRANGERS IN PARADISE

WHAT
An installation that explores the relationship with our forgotten urban co-inhabitants – the animals that we share our cities with.

WHY
Amid our man-made cityscapes, we have become removed from nature. We rarely look beyond our own species in our daily lives, let alone in design or urban planning. With ‘Strangers in Paradise’ Lydia Halders invites us to widen our gaze to include all of the beings around us.

HOW
Inspired by fellow Eindhoven dwellers such as peppered moths, foxes, pigeons, rats and bees, Lydia developed a series of concepts that embrace the full diversity of city life, both animal and human. She explores these in illustrated animations and 3D props.

QUOTE
I want to show that the city is also a natural environment.
