WHAT
Material research exploring how to adapt linoleum so that it can be used in more ways. By changing the mix of components, Don Kwaning creates a viable, plant-based alternative for leather.

WHY
Made of 100 per cent natural materials such as linseed oil, wood flour and pine resin, linoleum is such a beautiful material, it is a shame to only use it on the floor.

WOW
Through extensive experimentation, Don developed a softer, more flexible material that shares the look and properties of leather. He used this to make wall tiles that add more atmosphere and texture to a room while also improving the acoustics. This is just one of many possible interior applications. This project was realised in collaboration with Forbo.
