Here we will not only show graduates work, but offer talks
and events, exhibit some of the work of the DAE
with outside partners, as well have a cafe hangout.

The DAE hub is a platform to show the DAE way.
How we take the students concerns, talents and authentic responses to the world and support and coach them both to
develop their own voice, and to create a purpose by connecting them to the world through knowledge and awareness and through collaboration with others.

To make this happen we have collaborated with DAE graduates (from building the exhibition, to the graphic design, signage, food, project management, speakers, and entertainment).

A show to point the many ways that will lead to the future.

Graduate work
Work by Bachelors and Masters that focus on the students' many different views on the world, the issues that engage them, and therefore potentially the different design roles they can play, from inventor to behaviorist, educationist to activist.

Events
A debate, MY WAY, on Wednesday at 17.00 featuring past graduates who engage with the world each in their own different ways from Bas Princen to Christien Meindertsma and Dries Verbruggen and Claire Warnier. We will also highlight some of the current graduates whose interests range from health to map making, science to mine detectors. Chaired by Marcus Fairs of Dezeen, there will be an overview by Paola Antonelli from MoMA, New York. And there will be a series of Breakfast Conversations on Design, a collaboration between the DAE Masters and Premsela, Thursday to Saturday at 9.30 – 11.00.

Work with outside partners
An exhibit of two DAE projects with outside partners, the Municipality of Dordrecht and the Textile Museum Tilburg.
An exhibit of the work of photographer and DAE graduate Bas Princen who won a Silver Lion at the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale, and which also was a part of the DAE City and Countryside project

The Café
The cafe is run by Keuken Confessies (run by DAE alumni) and staffed by students. It will be open Wednesday to Saturday 11–7, Sunday 11–6.

You can meet Alumni on Saturday April 16th during the Aperitivo of La Bolleur.

During this “TRUST this breakfast” we will discuss and share ideas on the idea of TRUST.  An abstract and complex given that is fundamentally imbedded at the core of our daily lives, trust is the reliance we have on ourselves in relation to our surroundings, both material and immaterial. The recent economic crisis can also be considered as a crisis in TRUST. But what does this mean for design? Themes like demographic change, environmentalism, or for instance ethics within working conditions, information distribution or food production ask for a re-examination of what TRUST means and the role of design can play.

Open design embodies the ideology of a society in which each person can appropriate and contribute creatively by sharing and using information based on the ideology of open source. Given that we have access to the internet, the prosumer can participate in this process of open design. Designing for an open design questions the role, the status and the signature of the designer. During this “Open design breakfast” we will discuss and share ideas on the implications of for instance authorship, copyrights, taste and responsibility of the designer.

The growing awareness of global inequalities in wealth, the distribution of materials, goods and services make designers turn to “real needs” with meaningful designs to serve all human beings. 5.8 billion people, or 90%, of the world’s total population of 6.5 billion have, little or no access to most of the products and services many of us take for granted; in fact, nearly half do not have regular access to food, clean water, or shelter. Addressing these issues with design's potential to develop new innovative solutions to seemingly persistent (social) problems is the way forward. In the “design matters! breakfast session” we will investigate what kind of design attitude does work in these contexts demand?
