A month ago we asked you to send in the must see movies for our brand new film programme Popcorn.
We received over 100 film titles. The Popcorn team had a hard time in selecting 4 movies for the first edition of the movie programme.

In March every Tuesday evening one of these movies is shown at the auditorium, introduced by a teacher / staff or film director.

The programme starts at 19.00 and ends at 21.45 hours.
Every night there is a pop up bar and free popcorn
The Popcorn program concludes with a party at the Z-bar!

13th March, The Sacrafice, Tarkovski introduced by Wout Herfkens

Wout Herfkens: “In 1986 I studied at the art academy in Arnhem en saw Tarkovski's latest film The Sacrifice. Tarkovski finished it a few months before his death. I was so heavenly impressed that I saw the movie twice in the same week. Tarkovski has a relatively small ‘audience’; his films are too sluggish and moody, too poetic and philosophical, too religious and without any sense of humour and above all…take too lengthy; but these slow movies are very carefully edited as if they are painted. Absolutely worth watching!

Stuff Everywhere is a personal and lively quest for the connection between people and their stuff.

Things are handy, they make life easier and we think they will bring us joy. But they are too many and they are everywhere: in our houses, on the streets, in the sea and in our minds. They exist in how we think about ourselves, about the economy and about cubicle space. What if you wanted to count your things but you discover that, somehow, it doesn't fit your house? Nevertheless, you want to count them, because somewhere in the house there is a fact, a number, and you really want to know it. Stuff everywhere is a poetic film filled with questions, numbers and searching words.
A film about stuff with stuff because of all the stuff. Introduced by director Judith de Leeuw. Followed by a short compilation of animation stuff with commentaries by Bernadine Walrecht and Danielle Arets.

27th March, Hendrik Wijdeveld, introduced with a theatre monologue by Pieter van Evert and followed by a Q&A with director Hank Onrust

Join us after the Q & A for a Popcorn party at the Z-bar!
Architect and visionary thinker Hendrik Wijdeveld (1885-1987) aimed to improve the world. He loved open panoramas that gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy free space. In housing he strived for centralised buildings filled with light and air and offering a perfect view on the surrounding landscape. Wijdeveld saw architecture as a tool to structure a free world that was centred around culture. Architecture would provide the stage for a collective play in which everyone could be an actor.
In Boven de Stof, Peter van Evert brings Wijdevelds philosophy and ideas into a monologue in a traveling performance organised by Architecture Centre Nijmegen. After the monologue a documentary on Wijdeveld will be shown, directed by Hank Onrust, a very good acquaintance of Wijdveld.
The Popcorn program concludes with a party at the Z-bar!

Movie programme is organized by Danielle Arets, Maarten Scherpenisse, Eric Barendse, Simone Post, Marjolein Mulder, Olga van Zeijl, Yolande van Kessel, Bernadine Walrecht
