Why Design Academy Eindhoven?
I guess I was always busy drawing and crafting, so I knew i wanted to be creative in my work. I wasn't really into art academy, also because I want to be able to make a living with what I do and I didn't think that would be easy in fine arts. Designing is much more applicable. Although I will be happy to do some fine arts after five years of being soaked with design!

What inspired you to make 'New Born Fame'?
Facebook inspired me. Many people post pictures of their newborn, for everyone to see, already in the first 3 days of a baby's life. Since the baby is not aware of it, it cannot agree or disapprove, it has no say in it. I also see many people who use the picture of their kids as profile pictures. It makes me wonder what drives people to do this. So, I talked to parents to find out more about this phenomenon.

What is New Born Fame?
A set of toys and tools that allows babies to put themselves online. Babies no longer need the parents to make films and photos of themselves and place them on social media. For example, I've made a Selfie toy for the baby's crib. It lets the baby take photo's (selfies) and places them online automatically. Shoes that collect information about the first steps and about the distances the baby walked, so this can be posted on Facebook, are also part of New Born Fame. In short, I am facilitating the baby's fame on social media.

Do you have a message for the public?
I want to make people think about the matter. To see where the boundaries are. People may find it extreme to use a soother holder that posts 'I've checked in at the nursery' when you attach it to the baby's clothes. But it's also humorous and other people might even want to buy it. It makes you think about the behavior on social media.
