Massoud Hassani, graduated Man and Activity 2011 at our academy, is nominated and will be on show at the Designs of the Year exhibition at the Design Museum in London from 8 February – 15 July 2012.
From a comprehensive list of nominations, a prestigious jury will select the seven category winners and an overall winner for the Design of the Year 2012. The winners will be announced at an Awards Night held at the Design Museum on 24 April. Several media communicate about Mr. Hassani. including the Final Times, Design Museum and Dezeen Magazine. They are publishing about the product (Mine Kafon) of our DAE graduate.
The Financial Times says:
“With economic travails continuing to guide designers away from extravagant vanity projects and into the realm of the useful as well as beautiful, perhaps the stand-out product comes from Massoud Hassani, the Design Academy Eindhoven graduate.
Born in Afghanistan, Mr Hassani has developed a low-tech device for exploding the mines that litter his homeland after decades of conflict. Based on a traditional toy – a ball of straws blown by the wind – he created the device from bamboo with a GPS system to track and map its progress and clear paths through danger areas.”
Additionally Hassani has been interviewed by the BBC.
This interview will be published on the newsblog of BBC and London Times.
