Great representation of Dutch designers in London’s Design of the Year award: Four Dutch professionals are nominated for the British award ‘Best design of the year 2012’.

The next DAE graduates are nominated in the category Products: Studio Formafantasma with the project Botanica, Studio Bertjan Pot with the project Heracleum and Massoud Hassani with his product Mine Kafon.
In the category Furniture is nominated Yuya Ushida with the extendible XXXX_Sofa. Also a graduate in this category is Christien Meindertsma with her Oad Inside. This project is for Thomas Eyck, whom also related to DAE. It’s a collection made in collaboration with Roosje Hindeloopen and Trinctoria.

‘De Architect’, Dutch platform for know-how and inspiration, is proud off the Dutch designers.
This platform also mentioned another nominee: Maggies Centre in Glasgow designed by OMA. This design gave meaning to Maggie’s idea about people living with cancer: they benefit from psychosocial support in an empathic community. In addition, De Architect mentioned Fort de Roovere in Halsteren by RO&AD architecten. At this location visitors enter the fort like Mozes walked through the water.

If the winner will be a Dutch designer, we will know for sure on the 24th of April.
