RITUALISTIC PIECES REMIND US OF THE VALUE OF SALT
Today, salt is packaged in anonymous plastic containers and has
become a cheap, everyday seasoning. Lachlan Bell intends to
remind us of the value salt used to have. Ritual consists of three
parts: a bell jar, a plateau and a shaker. The salt supply is stored
beneath the bell jar, the shaker measures it and places it onto the
plateau, from which it can be manually sprinkled over the food.
The parts that make up Ritual have been made out of granite,
which used to be used to dry salt. To stress the diversity of the
material Bell has given each part a different treatment as well as
a different look.
