A METAPHORICAL LANGUAGE TO DEAL WITH THE GHOSTS OF TECHNOLOGY
The space we inhabit in the world, including all the details of
our personal lives, has been transferred to the communication
devices we own. Our cellphone has become a miniaturized,
independent being, a container of spaces that are full of multiple
functionalities and obscure complexities. The drawing of Hsiang
Ching (Chester) Chuang is a fantastical interpretation of the
functions of the iPhone. It not only shows the disconnection
between interior functionalities and outer appearance of the
device, but the drawing also expresses how human beings try
to understand the complexities of frightful technology by using
a metaphorical language.
