Ascending Retreat

In his project Ascending Retreat Thiemo Hildebrandt shows a way to use the space under the stairs as a retreat. To sit in, sleep, discover, hide, disappear or just rest. But to achieve this the space must not be stuffed to the gills as it so often is. Hildebrandt: “When you fill it up you can only view the space from outside. I want everything to be open, I want the decision to be made to leave the space free.” Moreover, communication is possible between the different levels.
