Winding
Fascinated by the way yarn is wound around a bobbin, Boudewien van den Berg developed a new technique for making textiles. Instead of weaving or knitting it, she simply peeled the yarn from the bobbin. The swathe of yarn thus obtained turned out to be robust enough for use. Hence the name of the project: Winding. Enlarging the bobbin without changing how the yarn was wound around it in turn resulted in a ‘round textile’, which, when cut open, yielded a piece of real material.
