Source Cabinet
The internet is an increasingly popular collection of images. Photo blogs may reach millions, but looking at a picture onscreen cannot be compared to the effect of a print on the wall. With his Source Cabinet Matthew Roeleveld wants to bridge the gap between online and offline. Digital images and physical objects come together in this cabinet, a tangible platform. You can print your favourite finds from the internet on a scroll, after which they set out on a tour of the cabinet. Slowly the images slide past — a slow motion version of the superficial mouse scroll. When the scroll is full, it can be kept as a reference in the archive on the bottom shelf. By taking pictures of the cabinet and uploading these to the scroll you will complete the circle.
