Out of Your Box, Into Your Life

Many buildings may be beautiful but they all just stand there, pondered Erik van Halderen. His project Out of Your Box, Into Your Life is an attempt to bring these buildings to life, to save people from the suffocating routine of buildings that never change. He made a series of three models, all three of which deal with lift shafts that can serve as in-between spaces. Van Halderen: “In one of the models, for example, these become functional spaces that can accommodate shops or offices. Because the spaces are constantly changing position, people enjoy continually changing views and different neighbours.”
