Dyslectic Fantastic
Text is not the best medium to explain dyslexia. Karlin Tuinte’s digital platform and card system ‘Dyslectic Fantastic’ gets the information across more smoothly. Her card tools help those who are diagnosed with the reading disorder understand how their brain works, and lets them build personal profiles. The relief-printed cards are very tactile and explain symptoms, but also special qualities, in symbols and colours instead of lengthy sentences. This allows them to engage with their label on levels that are more attuned to the way the dyslectic brain processes input. Closely linked to the cards is the digital platform. This offers similarly straightforward information: the personal profiles give dyslectics, carers and teachers a balanced overview of the qualities of any dyslectic brain.
