Soundscape

The interior objects around us are largely created with visual
criteria in mind. But what if you add sound to the design
process? Currently, colours and shapes change all the time,
but the sounds objects make stay the same. The scrape
of a moving chair, the thud of something being placed on a
shelf, or the closing of a wardrobe door – these blend in
with the surroundings and are so predictable, we don’t even
notice their existence.
With ‘Soundscape’ Jan Ankiersztajn does away with these
incidental noises. Instead, he uses technology to carefully
select and apply deliberate sounds to objects. Specific sounds
can also be amplified or muffled by placing the speaker
in the folds of a soundproof screen. And by arranging different
objects together, you can orchestrate the audio of the
entire space.
