Even in this uninhibited era, sex talk is still a taboo. People of all cultures hide behind metaphors. In Hungary they say ‘The bear goes into the raspberry bush’, in Portugal they ‘align the sausage’ and in Greece they ‘strangle the rabbit’. Laura Mangone collected sayings from all over the world and visualised their literal meaning in funny yet confronting drawings. They illustrate both men’s and women’s points of view, showing the ridiculousness of it all. The book Sexpression Tattoos includes a photo series of naked men marked with these images. And at the webshop on sexpression.org, you can order screen-printed T-shirts, to remind us that sex has little to do with screwing, banging or nailing.
