BIKE

WHAT
A bike made of recycled plastic waste in Mexico City. This sprawling metropolis of 21 million people is the largest in the Western Hemisphere, so there is plenty of plastic to harvest.

WHY
Spending hours stuck in traffic in this city is normal and many urban areas are hard to reach with public transport. Bikes are faster and cleaner, and what better than to use waste material that is cheap and readily available?

HOW
The bikes are designed for easy production and feature removable parts for handy replacement after regular wear and tear. By making the design freely available on Wikipedia, anyone can build this bike, or suggest improvements.

QUOTE
Affordable, quality transportation should be a basic human right.
