The Traveller
What: Three coats that make the wearers aware of their habits as consumers.
Why: Luggage says a lot about our habits of consumption. Leaving our comfort zone, some travellers take the bare minimum, some take far more than needed, and some never know how much to take. ‘The Traveller’ by Pauling Kolton is a collection of garments that raise our awareness of consumer habits by making us feel the weight of our luggage.
How: The pragmatic traveller’s coat holds the minimum amount of luggage needed. The fearful traveller’s coat can hold far more than needed. The undecided traveller’s coat can be adapted to take more or less luggage.
“The fear of missing something is a fear created by consumerist society”
