Landcape Matters

What: This research project explores the idea that landscape should matter in production systems, encouraging circular economies with the use of local resources.

Why: Coline Guérin wants to re-introduce the human scale into the world of trade. Her aim is to start a slow design movement with a focus on the natural context. With an interactive ‘Atlas of Resources’ that maps materials and makers, the project stimulates local production.

How: Do you know the origins of the chair you are sitting on? If it were a ‘Landscape Matters’ production, the attached label would say it all. Five archetype stools show where, how, by whom, and with what they were made, highlighting locally harvested materials like rush, reed and limestone.

“Don’t take resources for granted; context should be a source of inspiration”
