Show and Hide
What: Shelving units to store and present possessions.
Why: In an ideal world, we would only keep a limited selection of belongings, the things we really need, use and love. But we are, at heart, materialistic. We have an odd relationship with things. We always want more, and rarely want to get rid of what we already have.
How: With ‘Show and Hide’, Rui Hu wants to break this endless habit of accumulating stuff. ‘Show’, a place to store and present your finest pieces, arouses curiosity. ‘Hide’, a closed storage space, is for things you prefer to keep private. The limited space means that you don’t lose track of what is inside.
