Slow Response Code

What: An analogue interface between the physical and digital world allowing the earth's rotation to take control of technology.

Why: Despite feeling that we can monitor and control most of reality through technology, the world is still ruled by natural forces. ‘Slow Response Code’ reminds us of the fact that time and space are more inescapable than the omnipresent internet.

How: Inspired by sundials, a series of glass pieces in the centre of Eindhoven projects a unique pattern on the ground when the sun is shining. Once a day, at 5pm, this pattern can be scanned like a QR code, giving online access to live-streamed images of Earth, shot from the International Space Station – whose orbit is still controlled by natural forces too.
