Fast Forward

What: A modular production method based on direct collaboration between man and machine.

Why: In this project, Matteo Dal Lago looked for a way of embracing the language of machines in his design and production process. How can you go from prototype to 3D-printed furniture with as little human intervention as possible?

How: Matteo developed blocks that can be stacked in endless ways and then scanned into a 3D form as a kind of live prototyping. This is then sent to a 3D printer and can be printed in any size. The resulting shelving units are an example of what is possible.
