On Thursday April 19 will be the opening of the Ecolodge for selected guests. Because the Ecolodge is selected by ‘Agentschap NL’ from Ministry of Economic affairs, there will be special attention by the International press. DAE alumnus Marijn Beije designed this free floating ‘Ecolodge’.

Marijn Beije graduated from department Man and Leisure in 2009. In his last academic year he successfully completed his internship at the renowned studio Jacob Jensen Design, where he still works in Shanghai. In In January 2011 Marijn founded his own studio Marijn Beije Design.

Marijn about the Ecolodge: “a floating catamaran suite, meant to lure a broader target group into nature, and to help them understand the beauty and importance of nature and the protection hereof. The floating Ecolodge enhances the experience you can have while spending the night surrounded by nature.”

The Ecolodge is initiated by National Park de Biesbosch. Over a couple of weeks the Ecolodge will get a permanent place in the Biesbosch. Apecolodges built the Ecolodge and IHC Kinderdijk is responsible for the calculated stability. The constructive frame and the installations are carried out  with Rob Snel, expert on metal in shipping.
