After two DAE graduation shows, graduation books and Milano exhibitions, Ilse Crawford will hand over the curator role to the next creative, strategic and inspiring designers. This ‘handover’ is part of our decision to fulfill the role as an ‘estafette’ with a two year cycle.

Although Ilse is no longer our curator her vision and creative strategic ideas and solutions are still of great importance for the DAE identity in its current phase. As a team player she was very involved in all of the important processes: as a curator, as an editor, as a writer, as a designer and always as a very conscious person. In addition, Ilse will remain part of our excellent team as head of the design department Man & Wellbeing and member of the Creative Board.

Using all experiences of the last years, facing new challenges, new ways of exhibiting and - most importantly - the changing work of the students, we decided to evaluate the role of curator and take a slightly different approach. A core team of people from DAE will strive to make sure the system of creating these well-known and highly valued events is accurate, also in the long term. We will collaborate with students and alumni, writers, critics and designers for all existing and upcoming events and publications.

We are very happy to announce that we have appointed Catelijne van Middelkoop and Ryan Pescatore Frisk of Strange Attractors as curators of DAE starting with the Graduation of 2012 (event, exhibition, publication and media). Next Tuesday during the Bachelor Final Exams Catelijne and Ryan will already start viewing the graduate student projects and collecting information.

We are looking forward to make the next steps in presenting the excellent work of our students and to evolve our strong identity.
