Cooper-Hewitt, New York, presents ‘Logo R.I.P.’ by The Stone Twins

Last Saturday, September 1st 2012, the fully revised and updated edition of the book ‘Logo R.I.P.’ was officially launched in the Cooper–Hewitt, National Design Museum, New York. The event also included a seminar hosted by The Stone Twins, current Heads of the Man and Communication department of Design Academy Eindhoven.

Logo R.I.P. is a commemoration of defunct logos that were once an integral part of our visual culture and our lives. This tribute and major survey includes trademarks that may be regarded as icons of their time or international design classics. Included in the selection are the retired logos of AT&T, CCA, Kodak, NASA, Pan Am and Xerox, amongst others. Each entry includes a short, yet comprehensive, design and cultural history to ensure that although these logos may be gone, they are not forgotten.

The First Edition of Logo R.I.P., from 2003, received much critical and creative acclaim. Logo R.I.P. is included in the prestigious exhibition “Graphic Design - Now in Production” co-organised by Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, New York and the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and the book launch forms part of the official events during the final weekend of the exhibition.
