After graduating at Design Academy Eindhoven, Andrea Bandoni moved back to Brazil. She got inspired by the strong presence of nature and by the positive and exciting context of this nature. In an area where nature is absolutely dominant, the focus of the expedition was to search for sustainable objects through which the forest could be really seen and felt. For the first time the Amazon region was explored through designers’ eyes. Examples of findings are the tongue of a fish that is used for sanding and a textile that comes out ready from under a tree’s bark. These and many other objects, materials and processes were compiled in an e-book, which you can download for free here

Her project ‘Objects of the Forest’ was awarded with funds of the Ministry of Culture of Brazil and a British Council prize.

By telling compelling stories about the coexistence of man and nature, she hopes to raise discussions on subjects such as local culture, nature conservation, the social role of the designer, sustainable production and the use of natural raw materials.
