Why Design Academy Eindhoven?
When I came to Design Academy Eindhoven with my parents 4 years ago, I was very impressed with the professional presentation of the graduates that were presented. I wanted to be part of it.
What inspired you to make a news museum?
I looked into the phenomenon of news. The news has evolved into a never-ending flow of information. There are more and more media, more opinions and more news moments. What do we really take in? Haven't we become news-numb? These were the starting points for this project.
What does this museum?
It isolates the news and tries to trigger a different kind of reaction, and start a different kind of debate. It presents the news in a totally different way. Instead of providing more context in the form of books, documentaries, films and blogs, I puts the news in a frame. I want to create a different kind of appreciation.
How do you present your project?
Next week, a painting of Edward Snowden is presented in the Van Abbemuseum. It will be part of the Arte Utile exhibition. This is my first pilot, together with a debate, so I can actually gather information on how people react to it.
Besides this I will also have a virtual 3D News Museum online. I will curate the permanent and temporary exhibitions in order to reinforce the point I am trying to make.
