We are very happy to announce that for the second time the Reframing Textiles students have been invited to exhibit their work at the Textielmuseum in Tilburg. The projects that have been produced in close collaboration with the Textile Lab at the museum will be exhibited there from February 9th to March 10th (opening on Friday February 8th at 16:30, by invitation only.)

The minor Reframing Textiles 2018-2019 deals with the textile industry in its changing social and environmental contexts. This industry is, second to oil, the most polluting industry in the world. Reframing Textiles looks at textiles with a perspective toward the future, in which we are required to reinvent our methods of production, consumption, and use, as well as our aesthetics. What are the responsibilities and opportunities for the designer in this context?

Design Academy Eindhoven students have worked on a diverse collection of projects and themes, ranging from natural dyeing to ancient myths of progress and decay, from technical innovation to fashion philosophies, from DIY concepts to awareness campaigns to the rich cultural threads in our textile history.
